There’s so much Notion training content out there that speeds right over the basics and that can leave new users to Notion feeling confused so we want to break things down for you so that you can feel confident getting started with Notion successfully. ⠀

In case you missed it, here is the previous post in the Notion Basics series:

On to today’s tips!

Everything in Notion is a Block

I know it sounds super basic, but it’s one of the fundamentals that makes Notion different from other project management apps out there.

Your Content and Notion Blocks

Imagine every piece of content that you add to a page – whether it’s text, an image, or a table – as a single building block. ⠀Every page is a stack of blocks that you can combine however you want. So that means that every page in your Notion workspace is made up of a stack of blocks that you can combine however you want! How cool is that?

Examples of Notion Blocks

There are so many types of Notion blocks! Here are a few: ⠀⠀

  • Text
  • Headings
  • Images
  • Bullets
  • Checkboxes
  • Pages (inside pages!) ⠀
  • Tables
  • Boards
  • Calendars
  • Galleries ⠀
  • VIdeos
  • Maps
  • Code Blocks
  • Files⠀

What are your favorite Notion blocks to use?
